Bahamas Petroleum hire CGGVeritas for 3D seismic on southern licences

Bahamas Petroleum (LON:BPC) has finalised an agreement to hire contractor CGGVeritas for a 3D seismic survey over 3,000 square miles of the southern licence areas.

The survey is expected to start this month and it will take around 90 days to complete.

The company said that it selected CGGVeritas because of its proprietary BroadSeis imaging technology. The two companies have already been working closely together to design a programme that will optimise the technology and streamer geometry.

"We are delighted to announce that the contract to undertake 3D seismic has been finalised and look forward to applying roadSeis technology to image our exploration prospects,” chief executive Dr. Paul Crevello said.

“Our exploration programme is on target, and we are confident the 3D survey will further de-risk the prospects and enable us to choose multiple drilling locations. We will focus the 3D survey on the major prospects defined by the January 2011 2D PSTM processed data, results of which we expect to release in the coming weeks."

Once the 3D results are in Bahamas plans to do a multi-beam sea bed imaging and hydrocarbon seep studies.
