Montezuma Mining Company (ASX: MZM) has in excess of 3,000 km2 of exploration tenure in Western Australia, with multi-commodity prospectivity including gold, copper, nickel and uranium targets.
The company's Butcher Bird Project contains the historic Butcher Bird mine, a high grade near surface copper mine which targeted supergene copper mineralisation. The mine has recorded production of 8.46t of copper at an average grade of 22.6%.
Montezuma Mining Company increases Butcherbird global manganese Resource by 144%
Montezuma Mining Company (ASX: MZM) has increased the Butcherbird project resource to 119 million tonnes at 11.6% manganese following the completion of a series of updated estimates by Snowden Mining Industry Consultants.
Snowden completed Resource estimates for seven additional deposits which produced further Inferred Resources of 70 million tonnes at 11.4% manganese using a 10% cut-off.
A further low grade Resource of 55.9 million tonnes at 9.3% manganese was also calculated using an 8-10% cut-off.
Initial metallurgical test results from a diamond and reverse circulation program conducted by Montezuma indicate that a saleable product of greater than 35% manganese at a 20% yield is achievable.
The style of mineralisation at the additional Resource areas is consistent with the Resource at Yanneri Ridge where Montezuma is currently undertaking a Feasibility Study with a view to producing 0.5-1 million tonnes of manganese product for export.
Based on the geological similarities and preliminary metallurgical test work Montezuma believes these new resources will be amenable to the same mining and beneficiation processes being investigated for Yanneri Ridge.
Reverse circulation drilling at Butcherbird continues to deliver high grade copper intersections. The most recent of which include 3 metres at 3.42% copper from 92 metres, 2 metres at 3.66% copper from 63 metres, and 2 metres at 4.74% copper from 102 metres.
The significance of the discoveries is that they have confirmed copper mineralisation associated with the Butcherbird Shear Zone over a strike of at least 250 metres, within a broader prospective corridor striking in excess of 6 kilometres within the company’s tenure.
