Altura Mining increases JORC lithium oxide Resource to 13.29mt in the Pilbara

Altura Mining (ASX: AJM) is moving closer to its exploration target at the Pilgangoora Lithium project in the Pilbara with a revised JORC Resource estimate providing a 26% increase to 13.29 million tonnes at 1.21% lithium oxide for a contained Resource of 161,000 tonnes.

The company has defined an exploration target of 18 to 25 million tonnes at 1.3 to 1.6% lithium oxide.

The resource estimate was completed by Altura using a Minescape (Mincom) 3D computer model to produce pegmatite zone correlations from geological and assay drillhole intercepts.

Assays are still pending for the C1, N1 and E1 targets with drilling continuing to intersect shallow and thick mineralised spodumene pegmatites.

The drilling program to date has identified five mineralised pegmatite zones. All but one of the zones has been shown to be highly prospective.

The Pilgangoora lithium deposit is characterised by thick mineralised pegmatites outcropping at surface with an extremely low waste to ore ratio which will considerably enhance the economics for the resource that has been identified.

The focus for ongoing drilling will be to increase the mineralised pegmatite resources for the C1, E1 and N1 areas.

A diamond drilling program will also be undertaken to allow further metallurgical testing and assist with parameters for the design of the mine.

In August, Altura announced a maiden JORC Resource of 10.5 million tonnes at 1.25% lithium oxide for a contained Resource of 132,000 tonnes.
