Encouraging Gas Shows & Flares at Empyrean Energy’s Sugarloaf Prospect Block B

Empyrean Energy (LON: EME), the oil and gas exploration and production company, holding assets in Germany and the USA has issued an update on the progress of operations on Block B, part of the Sugarkane Gas and Condensate Field.

The operator, Texas Crude Energy Inc, has advised Empyrean Energy that a measured depth of 16,483 feet has now been reached at the Kowalik #1H Well. This now totals approximately 4,600 feet of horizontal section within the Austin Chalk.

The production of gas has been continuous throughout work on the well and significant gas flares were experienced whilst drilling the last section of the well. Gas readings regularly in excess of 2,000 units have continued to be measured.

Whilst Empyrean view these results as encouraging, the well must first be flow tested before the commercial significance of the gas shows and flares can be distinguished.

The horizontal section is targeting the upper pay interval that has been reported to be successfully producing gas and condensate in Block A.

The Joint Venture has decided that this well is now at Total Depth. A ‘wiper trip’ has been carried out in preparation for completion of the well. It will be approximately 7 - 10 days before the well will be flow tested and the results can be reported.

Empyrean Energy has a working interest of 18% in this well.
