Europa Oil & Gas making good progress with West Firsby-9 development well

Europa Oil & Gas (Holdings) PLC (LON:EOG) said the West Firsby-9 development well has

now reached a depth of 2,855 feet, has been cased and cemented and the rig is preparing to drill ahead.

West Firsby-9 is being engineered as a 2,000 feet long near-horizontal producer for the West Firsby field in Lincolnshire with the reservoir expected to be encountered in a structurally high position on the field.

The next section of the well will be angled to enter the reservoir at 80 degrees in order to expose up to 2,000 feet of gross measured reservoir section to the wellbore.

Managing director Paul Barrett said: “This well is designed to penetrate all three reservoir zones at a crestal location on the field and as such provide a multi-zone producer which we hope will transform the production profile of the field going forward. If all goes to plan, this well will start to impact field production levels in February.”

The West Firsby oilfield is a producing oilfield located north of Lincoln in the East Midlands Petroleum Province. The oil production is transported to the ConocoPhillips Immingham Refinery and sold at a small discount to Brent.

West Firsby has a P50 remaining reserves figureof 1.4 million barrels. This assumes just a 7 percent recovery factor on a total oil in place (STOIIP) of 20.6 million barrels.
