Deep drilling is planned at the project near Broken Hill

Silver City Minerals Ltd (ASX:SCI) has extended copper-gold mineralisation at the Copper Blow project near Broken Hill to a strike length of 1 kilometre.

There have been 18 holes completed in the third round of drilling at Copper Blow and this has focused on the North Zone.

Best assay result is 31 metres at 1.0% copper and 0.26 g/t gold from 270 metres, including 15 metres at 1.6% copper and 0.32 g/t gold from 285 metres.

Shares are up 14% to 4 cents.

Multiple intersections in this zone have outlined strong copper-gold mineralisation over 200 metres in length and 10 to 40 metres in true thickness to depths in excess of 270 metres.

This indicates that the grade is increasing with depth and that there is scope for significant copper-gold mineralisation to extend at depth beneath the North Zone.

As there has been no drilling to test mineralisation below about 250 metres at Copper Blow, SiIver City is planning a follow-up diamond drilling program.

Other strong new results from the drilling are: 21 metres at 0.5% copper and 0.1 g/t gold from 139 metres; 31 metres at 0.3% copper from 275 metres, including 16 metres at 0.5% copper and 0.08 g/t gold; and 4 metres at 1.3% copper and 0.35 g/t gold.

The style of mineralised structure which appears to be taking shape at Copper Blow shows marked similarities to other copper and copper-gold projects in New South Wales and Queensland.

Short strike length ore zones with extensive down plunge dimensions in excess of 1000 metres are a characteristic of copper mines in the Cobar district, about 400 kilometres east of Broken Hill.

Enriched in copper sulphide

The North Zone is represented by a magnetic anomaly which is 450 metres long and up to 80 metres wide with drilling suggesting it is particularly enriched in copper sulphide.

It is just one of seven strong magnetic anomalies along a major northeast trending shear zone.

Copper Blow is close to the mining and infrastructure facilities at Broken Hill including two sulphide treatment plants.

The project is a contributing joint venture between Silver City (75%) and CBH Resources (25%), which owns and operates the Rasp Mine and sulphide treatment plant in Broken Hill.
