LD Micro is the largest independent conference for micro-caps of its kind

LD Micro CEO Chris Lahiji has revealed the secret sauce that makes the microcap conference he is currently running a success.

“The thing that I’m most proud of isn’t the size that it is today. It’s the fact that we never deviated from the original goal, which was to find the next big winners,” Lahiji told Proactive Investors' Steve Darling.

LD Micro is the largest independent conference for micro-cap companies of its kind, with the CEOs of over 234 companies rushing to attend the three-day event in Los Angeles, which finishes today.

Lahiji credits the variety of the presenting companies as the critical factor behind the affair’s success.

“You always have to have variety and you also have to have diversity,” he said. “The trick is you want to show something that no one has ever seen and you want to show something that everyone wants to see.”

The conference organizers aim to have new presenters account for 30% to 40% of the exhibitors.

Lahiji is confident that at least two or three of the companies with market caps of US$30m or US$40m to turn up at LD Micro will turn into US$1bn or US$2bn names. “I’ve never been more confident in seeing maybe two or three companies ultimately get to those levels.”
