Mawson Resources Ltd (CVE:MAW) has moved another rig to the Rajapalot gold project in northern Finland in the light of successful drill results there.
The firm said 39 holes have now been completed or are in progress for a total of 8,900 metres of diamond drill core.
Results from the first five drill holes as reported earlier this month were highly encouraging, the firm said, with PAL0093 intersecting 31.7 metres ay 8.4 g/t gold from 244.1 metres among the highlights.
"With the excellent results achieved in our first five holes, and many high priority targets to test, we have elected to further increase our rig capacity at Rajapalot," said Michael Hudson, chairman and chief executive.
"With up to six weeks of the Finnish winter drill season remaining, and many holes already awaiting assays, we anticipate many months of discovery and news flow from this exciting program."
Drilling at Rajapalot is focused on expanding the size of the known gold prospects - Raja, Palokas, South Palokas and Terry's Hammer - along with testing of 12 semi-regional targets.
In the annual Fraser Institute survey announced last month, Finland was recognised as the top jurisdiction in the world for exploration/mining and investment attractiveness.
A fifth diamond drill rig has now been mobilized to site with all rigs operating 24/7, the group said.
Mawson Resources shares closed Friday in Toronto at C$0.48.
