Ord River Resources (ASX:ORD) is commencing an extensive exploration program to expand and accelerate its highly prospective Suplejack gold project in Northern Territory, after detailed internal analysis of the additional information obtained from the last round of field work in August.

The company believes that Suplejack is very prospective for gold exploration and the program will lift Suplejack’s gold resource significantly above the current 55,000 ounces.

The program is composed of geological mappings, airborne geophysical survey and drilling and will be carried out for the PhD Prospect and PhD North Prospect, Tregony ‐ Thomas ‐ Edwina ‐ Central Prospects Area, and the Boco, Jade, Pink Ridge and Trucks Prospects.

Over the next 14 days, ORD will conduct detailed geological mapping over the area lying between the Five Mile Bore Prospect and PhD North Prospect, situated within the eastern portion of SEL 26483. Mapping will be led by Robert Meade, ORD’s exploration manager.

Detailed geological mapping will significantly improve the understanding of the spatial relationships between gold mineralisation and host rock lithology, structural fabric, and alteration assemblage.  ORD believe these relationships are fundamental to the extrapolation of gold mineralisation prospectivity beneath cover sequence, and when interpreting airborne geophysics.

Secondly, the findings from this local‐scale detailed geological mapping will form the basis, and provide the confidence, for ORD personnel to correctly interpret the airborne geophysical survey data.

ORD will be undertaking a detailed low‐level airborne magnetic survey in late October or early November 2010. The company is now in the last stage of contract negotiations with suitable contractor firms.

This work is designed to aid drill target definition, and significantly improve ORD’s understanding of the sub‐surface structure and the gold mineralisation potential.

The airborne magnetic and radiometric survey will be undertaken across the entirety of SEL 26483 (approximately 300 square kilometres) using a flight separation of 100m along eastwest traverse lines, and at an estimated height of 40m above terrain.

This airborne survey will look deep into the planet within SEL 26483 and allow ORD to locate and identify structural sites that may high probability for delineation of gold mineralisation and is expected to commence in late October or early November.

Total survey time will be up to 5 days, followed by data processing and checking (30 days). The final digital data is xpected by late November 2010.

First stage drilling was planned for 2010 before the wet season. However, due to the early onset of the “buildup” which has resulted in un‐seasonally highly variable rainfall across the Tanami – Alice Springs region the company felt that to embark on drilling within these climatic conditions would have been highly risky.

ORD said it will utilize the “wet season” period to fully validate all previous Suplejack Gold Project drill data, and collate all data such that a larger drilling program across more prospective areas may be undertaken in 2011 early in the dry season.

The company has included in the program RC percussion drilling for up to 45 holes to a depth ranging from 150m to 400m in PhD Prospect and PhD North Prospect and will provide updates on drilling targets.
