Legend Mining drills evidence of nickel-copper mineralisation

Two drill programs are ongoing at the Rockford Project in the world-class Fraser Range region.

Legend Mining (ASX:LEG) has intersected sulphides during its ongoing drilling program at Area N within the Rockford Project located in the Fraser Range region of Western Australia.

Diamond drill hole RKDD003 was testing an electromagnetic (EM) conductor and has intersected multiple intervals of sulphide bearing mafic intrusives.

Because these sulphides are in close proximity to sulphur-rich metasediment/granulite, this makes Area N a favourable location for the formation of magmatic nickel-copper mineralisation.

Mark Wilson, managing director, commented: “Legend has consistently characterised Area N as a developing story.

"The presence of massive and matrix to net textured sulphides in the right rocks in the first diamond hole is considered encouraging.

“The results from the downhole EM survey and next diamond hole are awaited with great interest.”

Drill program details

Diamond drill hole RKDD003 was drilled to a depth of 804 metres and is part of the ongoing diamond and reverse circulation drilling program at its Rockford Project.

A downhole EM survey is planned for RKDD003 to test for off-hole conductors and the next diamond drill hole, RKDD004 has commenced testing conductor N2.

The reverse circulation drill program is aimed at testing EM conductors at Areas E, F and O and is ongoing.

Assays from both the diamond and reverse circulation drilling remain pending.

Rockford project

The Rockford project is located in the globally renowned Fraser Range district of Western Australia and covers an area of 2,792 square kilometres.

The majority of the project comprising seven contiguous granted exploration licences is the subject of a joint venture between Legend (70%, operator) and Creasy Group (30%).

Creasy Group is affiliated with legendary prospector Mark Creasy, who owned an interest in arguably one of Australia’s best discoveries in recent times – the Nova Bollinger nickel-copper project in the Fraser Range.

The project covers a strike length of 100 kilometres over a regional gravity high ridge associated with dense mafic/ultramafic intrusive rocks of the Fraser Zone.

The Nova-Bollinger deposit, which lies within the Fraser Zone, is situated on a similar tenor gravity ridge to that of the Rockford project.
