Results from the test work are expected next quarter

King River Copper (ASX:KRC) continues to advance its vanadium concept study on its 100% owned Speewah Vanadium-Titanium Project in the Kimberley of Western Australia.

This study is examining the feasibility of producing vanadium in the form of vanadium pentoxide and also titanium dioxide from the high-grade zone of the central vanadium deposit at Speewah.

The major objective of the concept study is to identify whether new hydrometallurgical approaches can provide a lower cost, lower risk base framework for a new scoping study.

The scoping study would look into the production and marketability of high purity vanadium and titanium products, including a vanadium electrolyte product that may in future be used for vanadium redox flow batteries.

Recently, King Copper updated the resources as part of the concept study.

Total combined resources measure 4.7 billion tonnes at 0.3% vanadium pentoxide, 2% titanium and 14.7% iron.

The combined resource is spread across three vanadium-titanium bearing magnetite deposits – Central, Buckman and Red Hill.

King River was able to compile the JORC estimate using historical data from several reverse circulation and diamond drilling campaigns and geological mapping from 2006 to 2011.

A 28-kilogram sample from reverse circulation drilling has been selected for beneficiation and hydrometallurgical test work.

The objective of these preliminary hydrometallurgical steps is to provide some baseline data for further test work to produce a high purity vanadium pentoxide precipitate.

This test work is already underway and results expected during the coming September 2017 quarter.
