Enertopia and GWT believe the technology could dramatically change the current footprint in the lithium industry

Enertopia Corp (CSE:TOP) is ready to move onto the next stage of its ongoing lithium exploration program after confirming phase one has been completed.

All field samples collected from the initial phase of the field exploration program, which covered select locations in the Western USA and Argentina, are currently being analysed by a third party lab.

Enertopia bosses also attended the Lithium Conference in Argentina, where they held “successful” discussions with Salar owners and active mining companies about taking part in the upcoming phase two bench tests with the firm’s partner, Genesis Water Technologies.

The locations of the phase two bench tests are being kept confidential due to their “very sensitive and competitive nature”. The exact locations will be revealed once the lands have been acquired, Enertopia added.

“We are very excited about our developments and are working aggressively on mapping out the next steps for phase two battery grade lithium carbonate purity bench testing and property acquisitions,” said President and chief executive Robert McAllister.

Promising results so far

The two parties are working to evaluate the feasibility of recovering lithium from brine with specialized recovery technology which they believe could have a dramatic effect on the industry while fast-tracking Enertopia into production.

The first bench tests carried out by GWT yielded some encouraging results too, with the lithium carbonate (Li2Co3) purity rates from the four samples coming in at between 93.7% and 96.9%.

In this second phase of tests, which is set to be much larger, GWT is hoping some adjustments to the recovery process could potentially lead to higher lithium recovery rates as well as higher purity rates.

Enertopia expects lithium brine results by end of June
