Discovery Metals expands footprint in Botswana
Discovery Metals (ASX: DML, AIM:DME) announced that it had expanded its land position in Botswana after the being granted several prospecting licences covering some 5,700 square kilometres. The licences cover an area west of the company's current copper-silver tenements all the way to the Botswana/Namibia border. Previous exploration on the new licences by BHP in the 1990’s suggests the area could contain more copper-silver mineralisation.
Discovery Metals has already defined an inferred mineral resource of 46.1 million tonnes at 1.3% copper within the area, and is in the throes of a pre-feasibility study.
"Securing these tenements provides Discovery Metals control over a substantial portion of the Kalahari Copper Belt, which is emerging as a new copper province. We are excited to be the driving force in this significant regional copper play." commented Brad Sampson, MD of Discovery Metals.
