Archer Exploration upgrades manganese values by over 200% at Salt Creek deposit

Archer Exploration (ASX: AXE) has upgraded recently drilled manganese samples by over 200% through simple wet screening at the Salt Creek manganese deposit in South Australia.
The company completed a 19 hole reverse circulation drill campaign over Salt Creek in April this year. Archer informed the market that metallurgical work would commence to investigate the potential to upgrade the grade of the ore through simple screening.
Five samples were selected to represent a variety of mineralisation styles intersected during drilling. The highest recovery percentage came from sample five at 30.42% with a recovery assay of 21.24% manganese oxide, 14.29% silicon dioxide, and 39.12% iron oxide.
At the time of drilling, a series of rock chip samples were taken from outcropping manganese to the north of the drilling area in order to confirm the extensions of mineralised limbs. Most of the rock chip samples from this area returned assays of more than 21%.
One sample from the undrilled eastern limb revealed 41.4% manganese, with limited sampling also identifying elevated rare earth elements at 0.15%.
Interestingly, the company also believes the that the Salt Creek syncline has the potential for manganese enrichment.
Archer expects to conduct drill testing of the syncline and the high grade eastern limb following the 2011 harvest.
