Discovery Metals confirms copper potential at Quirinus

Discovery Metals (ASX:BSE / AIM:DME) announced results from the first three reverse circulation exploration drill holes into the Quirinus prospect which lies only 15 kilometres from the company's current copper-silver projects at Zeta, Plutus and Petra in Botswana.

Highlights included 4 metres grading 1.7% copper and 13 grams per tonne silver, and 6 metres grading 0.9% copper and 14 grams per tonne silver. All three holes were drilled to a depth of 90 metres, and Discovery Metals was keen to point out at that reverse circulation drilling at its other projects in the area tended to underestimate the copper grade of the mineralisation. The drilling also confirmed potential mineralisation over 600 metres of a 3,300 metre long copper anomaly at Quirinus. Additional drilling is underway.

"To date we have been drilling in areas which will allow us to fast track the development of a significant copper mine at Zeta, Plutus and Petra (Inferred Mineral Resource of 46.1 Mt at 1.3% Cu). We have now successfully taken the knowledge and experience gained during this work into our regional exploration programme and have already identified another very prospective green field area at Quirinus. We believe that these results reinforce the potential for finding further mineralisation within Discovery Metals' entire tenement package in north west Botswana. We know of a number of historic geochemical copper anomalies which have not been drill tested including a number in relatively close proximity to the existing Inferred Mineral resource at Zeta, Plutus and Petra. We believe that we are exploring in an emerging and significant copper province" commented Discovery Metals' Managing Director, Brad Sampson.
