Investors will soon have assay results from Oklo Resources Ltd's (ASX:OKU) Dandoko Project in Mali from follow up drill holes to the 29 metres at 10.42g/t gold intersection encountered in December 2015.

The results are due in early April.

This promising hole drilled in December that generated the buzz was located at the Diabarou prospect and part of a 6 hole RC program that confirmed significant widths of bedrock gold mineralisation.

A further 7 reverse circulation holes were fast tracked and completed by Oklo at Diabarou during March 2016. largely to increase confidence in the geological controls to these intersections.

The Disse prospect, part of Dandoko Project had previously intersected 21 metres at 5.67g/t gold in drilling, which increases confidence.

Not to be outdone, drilling by Oklo in February 2016 at the Socaf project, north of Dandoko in western Mali intersected 13 metres at 2.58g/t gold from 9 metres including 4 metres at 4.43g/t.

The Dandoko Project is located within the prolific Kenieba Inlier of western Mali and lies 30 kilometres east of B2Gold Resources’ (formerly Papillon Resources) 5.15 million ounce Fekola Project and 50 kilometres to the south-southeast of Randgold’s 12.5 million ounce Loulo Mine.

While early days at Dandoko Project, Oklo has found that the gold mineralisation at Diabarou is associated with extensive quartz veining, but also with a broader chlorite - pyrite alteration zone - similar to many large gold deposits discovered nearby within the Kenieba Inlier of western Mali.

Drill rig on the move

Now the RC drill rig is being moved to the Yanfolila Project to complete a 5 hole, 875 metre program at the Solona North-West prospect to follow up significant aircore intersections announced by Oklo in 2015.

These included intersections of significant bedrock gold mineralisation, including 6 metres at 5.29g/t gold, 3 metres at 1.23g/t gold and wider zones of anomalous gold mineralisation, including 21 metres at 0.57g/t gold.

These holes were first pass, shallow aircore drilling providing a hint of the prospectivity.

Yanfolila is located 45 kilometres north of Avnel Gold’s 2.15 million ounce Kalana gold mine and 35 kilometres east of Hummingbird Resources’ Komana 2.20 million ounce gold project.

Investors will watch keenly for the results from Diabarou and Solona North-West as Oklo builds the case as a budding gold company in Mali, the third largest producer of gold in Africa.
