Orion Gold NL makes steady progress at South African projects

Both projects are part of Orion’s extensive portfolio of projects within the Areachap Belt in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa.

Drilling has already commenced at Kantienpan Zinc-Copper Deposit to test the recently discovered KN1 conductor identified by high-powered fixed loop ground electromagnetic surveys.

The KN1 conductor is a strong, late channel conductor located down-dip of a shallow conductor detected in historical electromagnetic surveying.

At Marydale Gold-Copper Project, a high-powered induced polarisation (IP) survey has continued following a successful trial survey.

The ongoing survey has better defined the deeper anomalies, which have been found to have a significant strike extent, with high chargeability and resistivity response.

Given the compelling nature of this target, Orion has decided to mobilise a diamond core rig to test the anomaly.

Earlier this month, the company generated significant new exploration targets from ongoing high-resolution geophysical surveys at its Fraser Range Nickel-Copper Project in Western Australia.

There has been an increase in activity in the Fraser Range region as Independence Group NL (ASX:IGO) moves towards concentrate production from its Nova-Bollinger Nickel-Copper Project.

While Orion’s current focus is on the highly prospective Areachap Belt in South Africa, it is continuing to advance the Fraser Range projects through systematic exploration such as the current surveys.
