St George Mining Ltd (ASX:SGQ) has confirmed significant intervals of high grade nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation from diamond drilling at the Stricklands Prospect, within the Mt Alexander Project in Western Australia.
Highlights from hole MAD26:
- 4.3 metres at 4.26% nickel, 2.02% copper, 0.19% cobalt and 3.21g/t total PGE's from 53.9 metres;
Highlights from hole MAD27:
- 2 metres at 4.17% nickel, 3.11% copper, 0.21% cobalt and 3.35g/t total PGE's from 71.25 metres; and
- 11.15 metres at 0.52% nickel, 0.63% copper, 0.03% cobalt and 1.69g/t total PGE's from
60.1 metres.
More assays are due shortly from Mt Alexander, which includes the drill holes that intersected massive nickel-copper sulphides at the Investigators Prospect.
John Prineas, executive chairman, summed it up by commenting:
“These assays confirm that the latest drilling has delivered the best intersections to date at the Stricklands Prospect.
“We are starting to see thicker intervals of sulphide mineralisation with high nickel and copper grades, as well as strong credits of cobalt and PGE's.
"These features are excellent for the potential economics of the project with an added bonus being that the mineralisation occurs at shallow depth.
“There is a clear opportunity to test for continuity of the high grade mineralisation at Stricklands, and planning for the next drill program at Stricklands is already underway.”
Mt Alexander
The Mt Alexander Project is located 120 kilometres south-southwest of the Agnew-Wiluna belt which hosts numerous world class nickel deposits.
The project comprises four granted exploration licences – E29/638, E29/548, E29/962 and E29/954.
The Cathedrals, Stricklands and Investigators nickel-copper discoveries are located on E29/638, which is held in joint venture by Western Areas Ltd (25%) and St George (75%).
St George is the manager of the project.
