Black Rock Oil and Gas (AIM: BLR), an oil and gas exploration and production company announced that Kappa Resources Colombia, its joint venture operator, started drilling the Arrinconada 1 exploration well, in the Alhucema E&P Contract in Colombia, on 8th April 2008.

Arrinconada is a low-risk heavy oil prospect and the Arrinconada 1 well is expected to take 20-30 days to drill.

Dr John Cubitt, MD of Black Rock Oil & Gas plc, said:

"The spudding of Arrinconada has been eagerly awaited as it represents a potentially high impact exploration prospect. It forms our first attempt to assess the potential for hydrocarbons in the large Alhucema E&P Contract that Black Rock farmed into during 2005.”
