Thor Mining

Thor Mining PLC, AIM, ASX: 'THR' is a minerals exploration and development company focused on exploring and developing specialty metals projects. The flagship project is the Molyhil Tungsten-Molybdenum Project. Since mid 2004 Molyhil has been the subject of systematic test work comprised of geophysical exploration, a diamond and RC drilling programme, surface and underground bulk sampling, metallurgical test work and a geotechnical study.

 Subsequent to the completion of the updated resource statement, and the Scoping Study, Thor completed a Definitive Feasibility Study in November 2006 which confirmed that the project is technically and economically viable, with strong financial returns and rapid capital payback. Thor has also acquired a number of project areas in the Northern Territory of Australia with prospectivity for uranium mineralisation.

Western Desert takes a chunk of Thor Mining

Thor Mining (AIM & ASX: THR), the specialist metals company with tungsten-molybdenum and uranium projects in the Northern Territory of Australia, announced that Western Desert Resources (ASX: WDR) now holds at 16.7% stake in the Company.

Western Desert, a exploration company focused in Australia, had agreed to acquire 16 million shares at 20 cents per share and 5 million options at 5 cents per share, plus subscribe to a further 9 million shares at 8 cents, raising A$0.72 million for Thor. The total holding of Western Desert will therefore be 25 million shares, or 16.7% of the issued capital in Thor, though this would reduce to 12.8% on a fully diluted basis.

Thor additionally announced that John Barr, Executive Chairman had stepped down, and Western Desert would appoint Mick Billing as Non-executive Chairman, and Norman Gardner and Michael Ashton as non-executive directors.
