Aura Energy (ASX: AEE) is a uranium explorer with advanced projects in Sweden, West Africa and Australia. The company is focusing on two main projects: the Storsjön Project located in Sweden’s Alum Shale Province, one of the largest depositories of uranium in the world; and the highly prospective Reguibat Project in Mauritania.
Aura Energy’s main projects in Sweden are based on the Alum Shales, which have been historically known as one of the largest depositories of uranium in the world. Aura Energy has exploration permits and applications in three regions in west Africa: the Reguibat Craton in Mauritania, the Mauritanide Fold belt in Mauritania, and the Tim Mersoi Basin in Niger.
Aura Energy continues uranium focused strategy in Sweden with new drilling
Aura Energy (ASX: AEE) strategy is to develop a pipeline of uranium projects in Sweden, with the company living up to expectations with a new program kicking off at Kallsedet.
The latest key target to be drilled is a substantial landholding of uraniferous shale near the Norwegian border.
Fieldwork in the area has identified a number of radiometrically anomalous zones with a five hole drilling program designed to test more extensively.
Aura said this fieldwork provided evidence that parts of the shale are relatively high grade.
Bob Beeson, managing director, said “The Kallsedet Project contains large areas of mineralised Alum Shale.
"The thicknesses are less than at Häggån, but there may be parts of the shale development that are better grade."
Drilling by Aura will determine the extent and thickness of the polymetallic mineralisation.
