An extensive programme of work is underway in Russia's far east.

Amur Minerals Corporation (LON:AMC) said its 2016 drill season is underway on the Kun-Manie nickel-copper licence in the Far East of Russia.

The work has two main objectives. It will be used to compile a large representative metallurgical sample for the MKF deposit, while there will also be an exploration element to it.

The former first. Somewhere between 25 to 35 holes will be drilled on the MKF area for a total of 7,500 to 9,000 metres.

The data from this will be used in the process plant design, determination of the composition of the concentrate and the design of a furnace to treat the concentrate.

The exploration programme, which will total 6-7,500 metres, can be broken into two parts.

Infill drilling will be completed at both the eastern and western edges of the deposit to convert the existing inferred resource to the higher-confidence indicated category.

Step out drilling, meanwhile, will be conducted in a bid to expand the resource.

Amur said the LF90 Boart Longyear rig is fully commissioned and to date two holes have been drilled for a total of just under 500 metres.

“All of this work will provide us with a basis and key information of inclusion in the definitive feasibility study,” said Robin Young, Amur chief executive.

“We intend to provide periodic updates as the field season progresses."
