The Company holds dominant tenement positions in the Pine Creek and the Ngalia Basin uranium provinces with a total area in excess of 6,000 sq km. Thundelarra has achieved significant exploration success on its Northern Territory properties, particularly in the Pine Creek region where several new uranium occurrences have been identified, including the Thunderball prospect where drilling has delivered a number of very high grade uranium intercepts.
The Company has a number of assets in addition to its Northern Territory interests, including; three highly prospective uranium projects in Western Australia and one in Queensland.
Thundelarra Exploration on the cusp of finding new uranium field at Hayes Creek
The highly prospective Hayes Creek Uranium Project continues to deliver for Thundelarra Exploration (ASX: THX), with two new significant uranium discoveries at previously undrilled prospects.
A platinum-palladium-gold mineralisation has also been identified.
An intersection of; 2 metres at 944ppm U3O8 from 41 metres, from reverse circulation drilling was hit at the Moonraker prospect, which was within strongly oxidised black shales of the Mt Bonnie Formation, which is only 1km north-east and along strike from the Thunderball uranium discovery.
Of note, at the Thunderball Prospect previously announced diamond drilling has intersected mineralisation assaying up to 20% U3O8.
Deeper drilling is now being planned.
Significant highlights from the Goldeneye prospect, 4 kms south-west of Thunderball include:
- 12 metres at 300 ppm U3O8 including 1 metre at 1,227 ppm U3O8;
– 3 metres at 2,779 ppm U3O8 including 1 metre at 7,481 ppm U3O8; and
– 6 metres at 371 ppm U3O8 including 1 metre at 970 ppm U3O8.
Of interest, for the first time gold, platinum and palladium associated with the uranium mineralisation has been discovered at Hayes Creek, with highlights including:
– 4 metres at 1,059 ppb platinum-palladium-gold; and
– 12 metres at 951 ppb platinum-palladium-gold, including 4 metres at 1,604 ppb platinum-palladium-gold.
The latest two new uranium hits brings the total to five significant uranium mineralisation prospects within Hayes Creek.
In other Thundelarra news, diamond drilling is about to recommence at the Thunderball prospect, which is the latest phase prior to the estimation of a maiden JORC compliant resource.
Thundelarra controls major landholdings in the Pine Creek and Ngalia Basin uranium provinces totalling almost 8,000 square kilometres, and has made a number of significant uranium discoveries in both areas.
Article highlight:
With spot uranium prices nudging US$57.50/pound, the new intersections at Hayes Creek are very timely with a JORC resource due for Thunderball before year's end.
