AEA Technology wins US$47.5m US Department of Energy Contract

Energy and climate change consultancy AEA Technology (LSE: AEA) said it won a US Department of Energy (DoE) contract worth up to US$45.7m. The contract has been won through AEA’s subsidiary, Project Performance Corporation (PPC).

AEA chief executive Andrew McCree said: “It is a significant validation of our strategy and the first of many opportunities we are pursuing in the U.S. Federal market and which we expect to convert into strong growth in 2011/12".

The programme works with industry to identify and implement energy efficiency savings through energy assessments, provides technical assistance, and encourages technology deployment, AEA said.

Under the contract, AEA will work in close co-operation with DoE staff, to integrate and co-ordinate the DoE’s ‘Save Energy Now Technical Assistance’ scheme. The initiative forms part of the DoE’s Industrial Technologies Program. The project has total funding of up to US$45.7m over a three-year period, and a further two one-year option periods are also included. PPC will also support other DoE programs such as the ‘Office of Energy Efficiency’ and ‘Renewable Energy’ programmes.
