CopperCo Limited

CopperCo Limited is a public company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (“ASX”) (“CUO”).  CopperCo commenced copper production from the first of five ore bodies in October 2007 at the Lady Annie Operations (“LAO”) located approximate 120 km north of Mt Isa.  The mine employs the heap leach solvent extraction – electrowinning technology (“SX-EW”) which accounts for approximately 20% of the world’s copper production.  Lady Annie is producing at an annualised rate of 19,000 tonnes per annum (“tpa”) of copper cathode and will increase production to 30,000 tpa early in 2009.

Mineral Securities ends share purchase agreement

Diversified mineral investment and development house Mineral Securities ( AIM & ASX: MXX ) suspended a credit facility to fund the purchase of Platmin shares from CDC Group plc. The original agreement was for Minsec to acquire three blocks of Platmin shares at a predetermined price from CDC Group, however Minsec opted to end the agreement before the third and final block of shares was executed.

Minsec holds around 19.5 million shares in Platmin, or 17.69% of the Company. Shares in Platmin have pulled back with the rest of the South African PGM mining sector in recent days due to ongoing concerns about power supply issues in South Africa.

Mineral Securities also recently announced a proposed merger with CopperCo, and ASX listed copper producer.
