Silver Swan Group (ASX: SWN) has commenced a soil sampling program at the company’s Abbotts Gold and Base Metals Project with the aim of defining targets for a potential drilling program that will begin in July.

The planned drilling program will target high grade oxide lode gold as well as copper and zinc mineralisation.

Silver Swan managing director Dr Susan Vearncombe said today that the project is located in an underexplored greenstone belt.

“Our work so far has identified five coherent gold-in-soil anomalies and six base metals anomalies,” Vearncombe said.

“The anomalies are all open along strike, indicating more than 800m strike length to some zones.

“Based on these encouraging preliminary results, the surface sampling area is being extended and in-filled with an additional 761 samples.”

Abbots project

Silver Swan’s Abbotts project is located northwest of Meekatharra in Western Australia, within 50 kilometres of the Meekatharra gold mining district, which includes Doray Minerals’ recent Andy Well gold discovery.

Andy Well hosts a resource of 831,000 tonnes at 12.7 grams per tonne gold for 331,000 ounces of gold.

Importantly, the Andy Well host structure is interpreted to cut the unexplored southern part of the Abbotts tenement package.

Abbotts comprises five tenements covering 265 square kilometres. An additional five mining lease applications are in place, for a potential further 27 square kilometres.

Proactive Investors is a market leader in the investment news space, providing ASX “Small and Mid-cap” company news, research reports, StockTube videos and One2One Investor Forums.

Silver Swan Group’s (ASX: SWN) substantial shareholder private investment company Copulos Group has increased its shareholding in Silver Swan to 15.69%

Copulos purchased 2,690,021 shares on market on November 14 for a consideration of A$173,775 and a further 325,000 shares on November 15 for a consideration of $20,800, providing an average entry price of $0.064 per share.

Silver Swan is currently in an interesting position as it continues gold exploration at the Stakewell gold project and the hunt for volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits at the Quinns VMS project, both south of Meekatharra in Western Australia.

Encouraging oxide gold mineralisation was intersected during the September quarter at the Stakewell project.

Silver Swan has drilled 11 reverse circulation holes for a total of 878 metres to follow up on high-grade gold intersections at the historic Kohinoor open-pit and underground gold mine.

Meanwhile, Quinns is located 55 kilometres south of Meekatharra covering a tenement area of 45 square kilometres, where Silver Swan discovered the Austin volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit in the Quinns project area and subsequently defined a Resource of 1.48 million tonnes at 1.02% copper, 10.39% zinc, 0.24 grams per tonne (g/t) silver and 3.31g/t gold.

There is a very large 25 kilometres of strike with potential for VMS mineralisation at two stratigraphic levels.

In the December quarter, Silver Swan will revisit the Austin deposit to determine the potential for stacked sulphide lenses to the east and west of the current massive sulphide mineralisation and potential for enlargement of the orebody in terms of both width and depth.

Silver Swan Group to drill high priority targets at Stakewell Gold Project

Silver Swan Group (ASX: SWN) is looking to further unlock the potential of the high grade Stakewell Gold Project in the Murchison region of Western Australia, with a new reverse circulation program to kick off next week.

Replete with $5 million in cash from a recent capital raising, Silver Swan will drill three new targets for testing at the project, along with a focus on extensions to existing gold lodes.

Recent high grade gold intercepts from drilling by Silver Swan at Stakewell appear to have been completely overlooked by the market including:

- 8 metres at 5.7 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, including 5 metres at 8.6g/t gold from 22 metres;
- 7 metres at 5.8g/t gold, including 4 metres at 9.9g/t gold from 34 metres; and
- 10 metres at 3.2g/t gold, including 5 metres at 5.3g/t gold from 259 metres.

While high grade gold intersected by previous reverse circulation drilling included:

- 7 metres at 23.7 g/t gold from 86 metres;
- 7 metres at 10.3g/t gold from 30 metres; and
- 8.5 metres at 9.0 g/t gold from 207 metres.

Located on five granted mining leases, including the historic Kohinoor mine (over 66,000 ounces mined), Stakewell has a number of mines in the region including Mt Magnet, Cue, Big Bell, Yaloginda, and Gabinintha.

Of even more interest to Silver Swan, two under-utilised mills are nearby (Burnakura and Yaloginda) to Stakewell, that require oxide feed.

Drilling earlier in the year by the company targeted to confirm and expand upon high-grade gold intersections encountered in historic (1980-1990) reverse circulation drilling.

The drill holes tested parallel and potential un-mined gold-rich lodes adjacent to the Kohinoor pit, along with extensions of the lode beneath the open-pit and test areas in which underground mining activity was planned - with all of these aims achieved.

At the nearby Quinns VMS Project which covers 45 square kilometres, the rig will also prepare collars to 100 metres at the Flinders and Murchison Wonder VMS prospects, followed by diamond drilling to test EM and off-hole conductor targets.

Quinns hosts six identified VMS prospects, along with the known Austin deposit with a Resource of 1.48 million tonnes at 1.02% copper, 1.39% zinc, 0.24g/t silver, 3.31g/t gold - which importantly remains open at depth and along strike.

Silver Swan Group (ASX: SWN) has intersected sulphide mineralisation within intense hydrothermal alteration from drilling in the first hole at the Flinders Prospect in the northern part of the Quinns project.

The company has drilled one diamond hole that has intersected 30 metres of intense alteration from 256 metres with a 12 metres wide zone of sulphide mineralisation and this hole has returned a strong off-hole conductor.

Importantly, the intensity of alteration and coarse magnetite is similar to that at the Austin Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) (copper-zinc) deposit where such alteration is usually only a few metres away from high-grade sulphide mineralisation.

On May 3 Silver Swan Group entered a binding agreement to acquire 14 square kilometres of prospective gold, copper and zinc tenements at Quinns, located 55 kilometres south of Meekatharra in Western Australia.

The new tenements are contiguous and enable Silver Swan to consolidate existing holdings with existing tenements creating economies of scale and boosting potential profit.

The new tenements comprise both the north and south limbs of the Quinns anticline in the prospective stratigraphy that hosts the Austin VMS discovery.

The company is focusing its current search for new VMS mineralisation at Quinns and is motivated by the conjunction of anomalous surface copper-zinc geochemistry, airborne electromagnetic anomalies, historic drilling results and highly-altered surface stratigraphy.

Silver Swan has completed a substantial, targeted program of surface fixed loop (FLEM) and downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) surveys at the project with multiple significant electromagnetic conductors identified at the new Flinders prospect and a strong FLEM VMS-type conductor, along with strong DHEM conductors, identified at Murchison Wonder.

There is a potential gold target at Murchison Wonder where stacked quartz veins were intersected over 80 metres. The company said results from diamond and reverse circulation drilling and FLEM results from Flinders are pending.

The company has carried out substantial exploration this quarter and has developed well-conceived targets at Quinns for new VMS mineralisation and high-grade gold mineralisation at its Stakewell project, and is now prioritising further drilling at Flinders, Murchison Wonder and Stakewell.

The Quinns area has a recorded historic production of around 17,000 ounces for the period of 1891 to 1938 that does not include gold mined from alluvials or prospectors since the 1940s.

At a minimum, gold extracted to 1938 represents $25 million at today’s gold price.

Historical highlights from reverse circulation drilling at the nearby Murchison Wonder include:

- 3 metres at 5.6% zinc and 7.2 grams per tonne (g/t) gold;
- 7 metres at 0.94% copper and 10.2g/t silver; and
- 2 metres at 1.9% copper and 20.5g/t silver.

The new tenements comprise both the north and south limbs of the Quinns anticline in the prospective stratigraphy that hosts the Austin VMS discovery.

The company will commence a field review next week of the area for anticipated “walk-up” drill targets as well as detailed geological mapping and ground physics over the new area.

Silver Swan Group kicks off drilling on five Meekatharra gold exploration targets

Perth based Silver Swan Group (ASX: SWN) has commenced a 3000m reverse circulation drilling (RC) programme on five exploration prospects near Meekatharra, Western Australia, focused on testing for oxide-related gold mineralisation.

In the Meekatharra area, much of the production of the late 1800’s came from Silver Swan’s tenement area at Stakewell (Kohinoor), Abbotts (Mt Vranizan and New Murchison King) and Quinns (Koladbro, Cornstalk, Parramatta, Nowthanna, Murchison Wonder, Wallaby, Nuggety and Olympic).

These areas have received only limited modern exploration despite the proximity to producing gold mines at Bluebird-Yaloginda and Gabanintha.

At Nowthanna in the Quinns project area, five reverse circulation drillholes for a total of 670m will test gold mineralisation intersected at shallow depths in past RAB drilling. Previous drilling intersected anomalous gold over widths up to 10m.

Anomalous zones include 9m @ 4.68g/t Au from 28m and 7m @ 2.9g/t Au from 27m. Drillholes will test to a maximum depth of 150m.

At Koladbro, in the Quinns project area, four reverse circulation holes for a total of 550m will test lode gold mineralisation previously delineated by historic RAB drilling.

Historic intersections include 3m @ 4.48g/t Au and 6m @ 3.36g/t Au. There are old workings on steeply dipping NW trending quartz veins cutting shallow dipping pyrite-rich banded- iron formation rocks (BIF) in the area.

Drilling will be directed through the BIF and test the projections of two separate N to NW trending structures intersecting the BIF.

At T&J, also in the Quinns project area, targeting gold & copper-zinc mineralisation, downhole electromagnetics has outlined an anomalous response in drillhole 10TJD001 centred about 90 metres down-hole.

An off-hole target is located below the drillhole as a plate-like conductor approximately 60 x 35 metres in dimension.

A 150m deep RC hole will test this conductive plate. 10TJD001 intersected highly anomalous zinc (up to 1.18%Zn) and copper (up to 0.44% Cu) over 18m from 65m to 93m depth. The conductive plate is located further in the footwall of the felsic volcanic rocks.

At Bourkes Reward, in the Bourkes project area, located 15km south-east of Meekatharra, the area is dotted with old shafts and extensive dry blowing for gold detecting.

Previous drilling by Silver Swan Group revealed deep weathering profiles and returned multiple gold intersections in most drillholes with a best result of 3m @ 5.7g/t Au.

The company has planned 10 RC holes, of 100-170m depth for a total of 1,200m. Drilling is targeting oxide gold mineralisation.

At Stakewell, in the Stakewell project area 55km south-west of Meekatharra, past gold production has amounted to ~66,000oz Au from the old Kohinoor mine located within intercalated mafic schist and banded iron formation.

The company has planned 4 RC holes to test lode gold potential associated with mafic volcanics and banded iron formation.

With $7 million cash in the bank, Silver Swan well placed to focus on extensions to the existing mineralization.

On October 27, diamond drilling intersected very high grades of 12% copper, 9% zinc, 5.9 g/t gold and 63 g/t silver, at Austin, which is within Silver Swan's Quinns Project.

Silver Swan Group intersects additional sulphides at Austin

Perth-based Silver Swan Group (ASX: SWN) is continuing with drilling at its significant Austin copper‐zinc VMS discovery located near Meekatharra with initial assays awaited from several completed holes where sulphide mineralisation has been intersected.

The anticipated results will add to the "spectacular" results from its recent diamond drilling programme at the Austin volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit in the Quinns project area of Meekatharra, Western Australia.

Two holes have been drilled into the upper 300m defining zones of high grade copper and zinc mineralisation and another five holes were drilled into deeper positions to test DHEM conductors and to test for down‐plunge extensions to the known mineralisation.

The two upper zone holes intersected 40m and 60m of semi‐massive to massive sulphides with visible zinc and copper mineralisation.

The five deeper holes hit sulphides variously over ~10m intervals, also with visible sphalerite and chalcopyrite. Results will be announced when a representative number of assays are received.

Detailed studies of the geology seen in the drillcore show that the host fold structure is non‐cylindrical and the folded sequence is overturned and is an important new development in the understanding of the system and the mineralisation controls.

It also assists in targeting more accurately the interpreted position of the deeper EM conductor along a similar trend that is currently being tested. These conductors are typically indicative of copper mineralisation in the form of chalcopyrite.

Two downhole EM conductors that model about 30‐100m away off the projected Austin fold plunge are part of the current drill programme and RC pre‐collars for diamond tails have commenced.

Whilst there is no necessary link between folding and high‐grade copper mineralisation, the highest grades to date are in the core of folds at Austin, presenting the company with an opportunity to identify noncylindrical folds near surface that may increase in magnitude at depth.

Current drilling is expected to last to the end of October and is aimed at these EM positions.

Silver Swan Group sources extra rig for drilling at Austin

Silver Swan Group (ASX: SWN) has provided a drilling update from Austin, which ranks as an important volcanogenic massive sulphide find near Meekatharra, Western Australia.

Drilling at Austin is targeted to test recently identified conductors for potential sulphide mineralisation; and to demonstrate potential for the sulphide mineralisation to continue at depth.

Silver is testing specific areas 300-600m down-trend of reported mineralisation. Holes have been designed to intersect geophysical conductors 1 and 2, to 190m below the current reported mineralisation, requiring drilling to around 600m vertical depth.

Controlled and directional drilling is significantly slower than conventional diamond drilling, with a 550m hole taking as much as 7 to 10 days to drill (15-20 shifts of 12 hours each shift).

The company said using navigational equipment to force a hole in a new direction, 10-25m of drilling can take three 12-hour shifts to complete.

Although time consuming, Silver said that this approach will usually be more cost-effective than drilling multiple deep holes from surface.

To speed up the drilling programme, Silver has sourced another rig for RC drilling to pre-collar several deep holes for diamond extensions, with the rig expected to arrive next week.

Results for this current program are anticipated towards late October.

Silver Swan Group provides update on drilling at Austin

Silver Swan Group (ASX: SWN) has provided an update on latest electromagnetic results and drilling progress at Austin. Austin ranks as an important volcanogenic massive sulphide find near Meekatharra, Western Australia.

Silver Swan has completed three deep diamond drill holes at Austin for ~1500m. The holes are very widely spaced; DDH101 is spaced 150m down plunge from known mineralization, DDH 102 is located ~80m down plunge of known mineralization. DDH 102a is a wedge plus ~25m of navi drilling off hole DDH 102, aligning the drilling to intersect ~35m deeper into the projected plunge of mineralisation.

SWN has commenced the first of another 9 planned holes, a combination of RC and diamond drilling.

Three holes are designed to intersect mineralisation at the “open-cut” level with the purpose of increasing resource size and improving copper and zinc grade. Six holes are designed to test EM conductor positions and projected mineralised positions.

Downhole EM conductors from the most recent survey at Austin model about 30m away off the projected trend of mineralization.

The conductors as modeled from DDH101 comprises two plates; the upper conductor plate has interpreted dimensions of approximately 120m x 75m wide and the lower conductor plate modeled as approximately 190m x 150m wide.

These new targets may represent en echelon duplicate zones at Austin, and will be tested by drilling as part of the next 9 hole priority. Drilled and planned priority holes below the defined resource are shown as black and red respectively.

The company is currently sourcing an RC rig to complement and speed up the drilling at Austin.

The company is currently receiving the results of recent downhole geophysical surveys. Downhole electromagnetics has been completed at T&J, Robert (Quinns), Lady Alma and Copper Hills (Yagahong); the company is awaiting the written report.

Silver Swan will progressively update shareholders on the drilling progress and geophysics.

The company is seeking polymetallic targets with a focus on lode gold, copper-gold and volcanogenic massive sulphides in Archaean and Proterozoic terrains.

Silver Swan recommences drilling to test deep copper zones at Austin

Perth-based Silver Swan Group (ASX: SWN) has recommenced diamond drilling at the its 100% owned Austin prospect in Western Australia and is now testing Cu-Zn-Ag-Au mineralization from ~300m to 600m depth.

Austin is a volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit in the Quinns project area, 55km south of Meekatharra. The established area of mineralization is open at depths significantly below the current JORC resource.

All EM conductors drilled to date revealed copper mineralisation and the current drilling program is to test deep copper sulphide zones.

Drilling in the footwall to mineralization for geophysical purposes intersected mineralization at 450m depth and defined conductive bodies to greater than 500m depth.

The conductive sources are interpreted as primarily thick masses, with variable conductivity along the bodies.

Silver Swan said following confirmation that conductors are present to depth, the company is focused on testing these deeper zones.

The increasing depth to specific targets has prompted the use of direction controlled drilling. For this reason, SWN is employing directional drilling designed to intersect pre-determined positions, calculated from present geological data and down-hole geophysical results.

Multiple intersections are planned using wedging and navi drilling techniques to intersect these predetermined positions. New DHEM surveys will be conducted on the initial holes targeting the deeper mineralization to improve the target definition with the ongoing drilling.

The diamond drilling programme at Austin will commence double shifting this week.
